Skirts, cont.

3 great iPhotos

These are the fab sheets I received from the Summer Skirt Sheet Swap arranged by Lisa. She managed this whole swap on her own and in a very orderly manner too! Her organization is quite impressive. She was even kind enough to consider our requests and send us what we liked. Thanks Lisa!

The sheets I received came from Beth (gold stripes/circles), a different Beth (large red poppies) and Ginger (green bamboo). I love them all but my favorite is the bright and bold red poppies. I chose to use it first and made an A-line skirt instead of using Lisa's great tutorial; I wanted a more fitted look. It has a zipper on the side seam, bias trim along the bottom edge in place of a hem and a pocket that I placed in a slanted position. This slanted pocket will become my signature detail on skirts just because it's fun!

Here it is:

The slanted pocket:

Me wearing it:

(I'm wearing a t-shirt that I stenciled with a flower using the freezer paper stencil technique. I'm "all craft girl all the time".)

OH MY GOODNESS, I love it!!! The green trim and the pocket are great touches. I wonder if I have enough of that left over to make one myself. AND...actually I think it might have been a bed coverlet or drape since it was so narrow. I might have to piece mine together!! Great work you crafty girl.

I think I mentioned this on flickr (and if I didn't I meant to), but I totally LOVE that skirt! I have to tell you, I was very tempted to keep that print for myself, LOL! I'm glad I passed it along - you did a great job with it. No matter what it was in its previous life, it looks like it was made to be an a-line skirt.

I love your skirt...I'm an A-line type of gal too. I really like your addition of the slanted pocket and biased hem. I would like to try the hem with my next skirt...any hints that you could pass on?
