A couple of weeks ago I finished this great big pincusion using the instructions found at Whip Up.
I've been sewing for almost 3 years and would you believe it that I was still just using the plastic case that the pins come in. Inevitably, I would flip the very lightweight case and drop pins everywhere! I've been fortunate to never actually step on one! Initially, I did make a fabric band that I tied onto the machine, but it was too narrow and was always twisting. Of course, making a new one was out of the question because I had already made one and needed to use my time making more exciting things!
Well, NOW I can use this super pincushion next to my sewing machine or take it with me as I pin clothes to a pattern. It's awesome to have a pinchusion. No wonder I love the crafty blog world sooooo much!
About the pincushion. . .
Fabric: cotton fabric was a scrap piece from the diaper bag I made for a friend. The green is wool felt leftover from my Wee Wonderfuls bear, Sandi.
Buttons: the large green one and the bright pink one are both from the stash of buttons I purchased at the thrift store when I was a 1st grade teacher. I'm very glad I chose to use the green one because it is so pretty! I love being able to see it every time I sew. I'm learning that it's so much better to use what you have and show it off instead of keeping it hidden and unappreciated while you stash it!

I need to make one of these for myself. I've made some for others, but not for me. I have pins everywhere!
Yours turned out so much more even than mine! Love it!
