My sweet Viviana has a painting in an art show! The opening reception was last night at an art center called The Other Side Arts (TOSA). The show is a womans show entitled "In Defense of Self".
Viviana painted this "red flower" on May 1, 2005, days before she died. We attended a children's art workshop at TOSA on that day and she painted two pieces. She called the first one "Barney". It was a mixture of a few colors, but the dominant color was purple, her favorite.
The "red flower" was her second piece and I thought it looked very much like a red flower (so did everyone else). I don't know if it was intentional or not? I asked her about it the next day and she said that she meant for it to be a flower. I trust she knew what she was doing!
This piece is very special to me because the theme of the workshop was "Mother's Day". I will always treasure it! I am so thankful to TOSA for helping to frame it and truly capture its beauty! It will be showcased in our living room once the show is over. I can't wait!
The tag over her piece reads:
Viviana Isabel M.
(birthdate) Always Beautiful (Date of her passing)
C and I talked about a description for the piece and we couldn't come up with a sentence or description that would state her beauty and the beauty of the painting for us. Then it hit me that "Always Beautiful" was a simple yet strong statement that expressed just what we felt about both!
Oh, what a beautiful child she was! Viviana had many challenges in her six years of life, but none could defeat the beauty of her love! The true love of God.
